Hippowdon is a Pokémon owned by Paul, and formally by Android. She is the twelfth Pokémon Paul is revealed to own and kept, and the eleventh one to be shown. She is Android's sixth confirmed Pokémon, and the second one he kept on hand.

In GTS, Android initiates in a chain trade to obtain Hippowdon. He trades a Sudowoodo for a Dunsparce, and then trades the Dunsparce for Hippowdon.

Sometime later, Hippowdon managed to defeat Byron, gym leader of Canalave City, singlehandedly.

In Power of the Trade, Android traded Hippowdon for Paul's Ursaring. Hippowdon was used to battle Wyatt's Magneton and defeated it with a single blow.

In Illumination on a Bad Habit, Hippowdon is being cared for by Reggie at his ranch. It breeds with Rosa's Ditto and produces an egg. When Ditto steals it from her, she pursues it with hostility.

In Vs. Android, Hippowdon is chosen to battle against Android. She starts against Android's Alolan Ninetales, having a type disadvantage against it. She used a Sand Stream/Toxic combo to poison it, then defeated it with powerful attacks. She battles Ursaring next, poisoning her. This proved to be a mistake, as Ursaring defeated Hippowdon with a Quick Feet/Facade combo.

In Vs. Paul 1, Hippowdon is chosen to battle Ian, battling Torterra. She used Toxic into her Sand Stream to poison Torterra. She defeated Torterra with Hyper Beam. She battles Vespiquen next, which blocks the Sandstorm/Toxic combo with Air Slash. Hippowdon is defeated by an Attack Order.

Trivia

• Hippowdon is the first Pokémon confirmed to be used in chain breeding to be a part of the main cast. Android obtained her in a trade, then traded her to Paul.
• Despite first being known to be owned by Android, Hippowdon didn't physically appear until under Paul's possession.
