In Vs. Volbeat and Illumise, Illumise performs a mating dance with Volbeat, attracting dozens of Bug type Pokémon from around the area. Nando and his team were lured in, him playing music for them. Once the dance finished, Nando requested a battle with them. Illumise and Volbeat battled Nando's Kricketune and Armaldo. The two unleashed several combination attacks to keep Nando on his toes. Nando separated the two and Illumise was put to sleep by Sing. Nando was able to catch Illumise following this.
In Vs. Lopunny, Illumise was used in the performance round of the Silver Town Contest. She performed well enough for Nando to advance to the battle round.
In Vs. Chansey and Wigglytuff, Volbeat and Illumise were used in the double appeal round of the Johto Grand Festival. Their performance advanced Nando onto the battle round.
